Account Setup
How do I create an account?
Click the 'Register' button on the homepage. Fill in your email, username, and password. You will receive a verification email to activate your account.
How do I enable two-factor authentication?
Go to Settings > Security and click 'Enable 2FA'. You will need an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy to scan the QR code.
How do I reset my password?
Click 'Forgot Password' on the login page. Enter your email address and we will send you a password reset link.
Tree Management
How do I add a new tree to my collection?
Navigate to 'My Trees' from the sidebar, then click the 'Add Tree' button. Fill in the species, name, style, and other details. You can also upload photos.
What information should I include for each tree?
At minimum, add the species and a name. We recommend also adding the style (e.g., formal upright, cascade), estimated age, USDA zone, and care notes. Photos help track your tree's progress over time.
How do tree transfers work?
You can offer to transfer a tree to another user or request a transfer from them. Go to the tree's detail page and use the 'Transfer' option. The other party must accept the transfer for it to complete.
Clubs & Events
How do I join a club?
Browse clubs from the Clubs page. Public clubs can be joined directly by clicking 'Join'. Private clubs require an invitation from a club administrator.
How do I create a club?
Go to the Clubs page and click 'Create Club'. Fill in the club details including name, description, and visibility settings. New clubs require admin approval before they become visible.
How do I RSVP to an event?
Open the event page and click 'Going', 'Maybe', or 'Not Going'. Some events may require approval from the organizer before your RSVP is confirmed.
Photo Galleries
How do I upload photos?
Each tree has an automatic photo gallery. Go to your tree's detail page and click 'Add Photo'. You can upload multiple photos at once. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, and WebP.
What is the maximum file size for photos?
Individual photos can be up to 10 MB. We recommend uploading high-quality images to best showcase your trees.
Can I set a primary photo for my tree?
Yes, open your tree's gallery and click the star icon on any photo to set it as the primary (thumbnail) image that appears in listings.
Care Guides
Where can I find care guides?
Navigate to Care Guides from the sidebar. You can browse by species, USDA zone, or season. Official guides are written by experienced bonsai practitioners.
Can I contribute a care guide?
Yes, registered users can submit care guides. Go to Care Guides and click 'Write a Guide'. Submitted guides are reviewed by administrators before being published.
Privacy & Security
Who can see my profile?
Your public profile (username, bio, public trees, and club memberships) is visible to all logged-in users. You can control what information is displayed in your profile settings.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Account and click 'Delete Account'. This action is permanent and will remove all your data including trees, photos, and club memberships.
How is my data protected?
We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. We never share your personal information with third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
